One row should describe one movement
Enter the actual date, source reference and purpose. Put receipts in money in and payments in money out. Use separate rows when two different movements occur; the worksheet rejects a row with both amounts positive.
An owner contribution, a loan receipt or a transfer may appear in a cash record, but none should automatically be treated as sales. The description helps an accountant classify the movement later.
- Replace sample rows with dated transaction references.
- Enter non-negative money-in or money-out amounts.
- Investigate blank dates, references and conflicting amounts.
- Export the record and compare it with the same period's bank and cash evidence.
What a cash sheet cannot tell you
Net cash movement is not profit. Unpaid sales, unpaid bills, inventory, depreciation and other accrual items may be absent from the cash sheet. It also does not separate transfers between accounts unless you identify them.
Use this worksheet for a single defined cash record or clearly explain which accounts it includes. Combining cash-to-bank transfers across both sides without reconciliation can exaggerate movement totals.
Protect the evidence trail
Choose references that lead back to the receipt, invoice or approval. Preserve an export at the monthly cutoff and record later corrections explicitly. A description such as miscellaneous makes the transaction harder to review.
Your entries remain in the browser while you use the page. Nothing is submitted or persisted. Export before leaving if you want to retain the work; do not paste sensitive employee or bank access information into this public worksheet.
Worked example
Money movement is a starting point
Fictional receipts LKR 120,000 and LKR 35,000; payments LKR 42,000 and LKR 18,000. No opening balance or accrual items.
- Money inSum the cash receipts.
- LKR 155,000.00
- Money outSum the cash payments.
- LKR 60,000.00
- Net movementThis is cash movement, not a profit calculation.
- LKR 95,000.00
The LKR 95,000 movement needs transaction classification and opening cash if you want a closing balance or financial report.
Frequently asked questions
Does the CSV contain live Excel formulas?
No. It exports current inputs and checked calculated totals as values. Add formulas in your spreadsheet if you want later spreadsheet edits to recalculate.
Can this replace complete accounts?
No. It is a basic cash record. Receivables, payables, assets, stock and other accounting adjustments require additional records.
Sources and limits
Basic cash recording only; not double-entry accounts, a tax return, a financial statement or an Excel formula workbook.
